hello all, this little fellow pelted into my window this morning right in front of me as I was ironing and knocked himself silly. Once he'd recovered from the shock, he was fine and flew off very quickly with a merry tune (or probably cross for being picked up).
What is he? (Or her?) If I had to hazard a guess, looking at the photos in the site directory, I'd say some type of warbler?

| | | Re: lbj ID (well a bit green) big supercillium and long wing projection would suggest a Willow Warbler - as for greenfinch - look at the beak its thinner and designed to catch and eat insects and get in cracks and fissures in bark..... |

| | | Re: lbj ID (well a bit green) Thank you! That's a 'tick' for me and a nice birthday surprise.
I had a haunting feeling someone would tell me it was a juvenile sparrow, and I should know better, TBB! heehee |

| | | Re: lbj ID (well a bit green) He looked terrible when I first saw him, lying on his back, beak open, chest heaving.
When he flew off, he darted in and out of the porch and then to a nearby tree, then off, I wasn't sure if it was the same bird and had to check he hadn't got himself trapped in the house. They learn so quickly. I felt so incredibly slow witted! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
