| | | Bird ID please Hi All,
Heard what sounded like a bird of prey call while in the kitchen and saw this flying overhead. I ran back in, grabbed the camera and it was quite far away by the time I photographed it hence the poor quality and severe cropped images (also pointing towards the sun so very dark image)
Any ideas what it may be please ? Was about the size of a buzzard.
Thanks [ |

| | | Re: Bird ID please I'd say a wood pigeon heavily in moult (or has been ragged by something and has had a lucky escape). I can see what looks like a white neck mark in the first picture.

| | | Re: Bird ID please Thanks Chris,
Thinking about it, I may have photographed a different bird to the one I saw !as it took about 30 seconds to get the camera and this bird was the only one about in the distance and the trees prevent a larger view. The bird I saw was definately buzzard like but with narrower wings.

| | | Re: Bird ID please I'm sorry but ChrisJB is right, the left hand shot is certainly a Woodpigeon, the second one I think is also the same bird, it's got a nice white wing marking of a Woodpigeon.
Without a clear marker to gauge size against the light and the sky can make guessing size and even shape VERY difficult. |
