Can anyone identify this little bird?
Hi there everyone, i am knew to Wild About Britain so please be patient with me. I have spotted lots of Bull Finches in our fields munching on the Thistles and also a finch looking, cinnamon/brown bird, but from behind when it is flying the base of its tale is black & white. Are they just young Chafinches??? Can anyone help. Many thanks.

Sounds like Goldfinches.

p.s. are you sure they are Bullfinches as Thistle is not there usual food; they normally feed on fleshy fruits, buds and shoots. And welcome to Wild about Britain.

I'd be very surprised if Goldfinches weren't amongst them. But the cinnamon colour does suggest Chaffinch.

I suspect they are Goldfinches with some Linnets.
