| | | gull id please this photo, (apologies for the quality) was taken in an Italian port last week, it was at some 70 meteres so a little difficult to judge the size, i think it was bigger than a blackheaded gull but smaller than a lesser black backed gull, hope this help's
the bill seem's to be dark with a pink/light ring

denn. | Bare part colouring on gulls varies enormously so never a reliable criteria on it's own. I'm not convinced it's a YLG either - it's obviously not an adult and I'd expect it to be a lot darker either way on the mantle. Tbh, Caspian looks a good possibility with those long legs and sloping forehead and most of the streaking concentrated on the upper breast - but on this image, I don't think you'll get a positive ID. |
