| | | Bird of Prey calls and meanings Not quite sure if these links will work these are old video clips that were used for educational purposes. This one is of a Merlin standing for copulation.
A Jerkin can be heard in the background plus a peregrine falcon.

Yes he is 11 years old produced falcons for falconry, plus his off spring have helped to try to reintroduce Peregrines in parts of europe where there numbers are still low. Falconers world wide have helped to reinduce several species. I have bred reared many different species over the years, plus gave many wild BOP a helping hand to try for another chance in the wild. Plus other birds. I know you are not a fan of captive bred falconers birds. But if it was not for falconers and captive bird breeders I guess a few species might be in dire straights. I suppose this goes for any captive bird or animal that has helped to substain their wild populations.

Any way I hope the sounds help indentify some calls that might be heard and give alittle insight in to what they might mean.

Falconers world wide have helped to reinduce several species. | Well to me it makes a difference - I personally don't like seeing captive BoP other than ones that have unfortunately suffered injuries in the wild and can not be re-released - although other falconers etc on WAB probably won't see this in the same way as I do. However, I joined WAB under the impression it is a WILD bird forum, so personally prefer discussions and videos/images of wild birds of prey behaving naturally in their chosen habitat rather than videos of peoples pets/captive birds (copulating with a human hand??!!!). However, I stress this is just a personal opinion. I also personally have found the best aid to identification of wild BoP is to gain experience of watching them behaving in various ways/reacting with other species/distant views etc all in the wild.
Incidently, there's some amazing research projects going on by skilled raptor ornithologists which can be found on the net - some fantastic images and behavioural studies on this website which has some fantastic images of wild flying Peregrines and which you may like and find helpful: Observing | Peregrine Falcon photos by Will James Sooter
Ps. Regarding that last video clip - despite what you may argue, I can see no value whatsover for IDing BoP by sound, in posting a 'copulating' captive Peregrine looking somewhat uncomfortable, confused and displaying anxious behaviour at his handlers attempts to train him to 'copulate'.
