| | | White tailed Eagle reintroduction project Norfolk? I was wondering in anyone out there knows whether the Natural England project to reintroduce/introduce Sea Eagles into Norfolk was still on the cards or has local unease caused it to be cancelled?

As I understand it the opposition from local farmers has meant that Natural England are prolonging the consultation period in order to get a broader view. They are not looking to apply for a licence to reintroduce them until at least next year but it looks as though they've got their work cut out convincing chicken/sheep farmers.

| | | Re: White tailed Eagle reintroduction project Norfolk? Hello Mick as Elevate states above according to the Bird Mags they are gragging their heals on this and do not want to commit, but as things stand at the moment I dont hold out much hope due to the local poultry farmers fear of losses

| | | Re: White tailed Eagle reintroduction project Norfolk? I have it on good authority that the project has been shelved indefinitely following the withdrawal of the major landowner involved in the project and as a result of the very strong opposition of the local farming community .
It's a great shame but I further understand that possible alternative re-introduction sites elsewhere in England are being investigated

(Schedule 1 Licence holder for Avocets, Kingfishers and Barn Owls) | Many thanks for your replies. It is a great shame Jeff, a bit selfish on my part but I was looking forward to seeing all 15 raptor species in England for the first time in how many centuries? I have a passion for raptors and try to see at least 14 of our 15 each year but don’t have the time or funds to make Scotland annually. Let’s hope another location is available with local’s willing to accept this magnificent raptor.
Regards.

I have just been "appointed" an ambassador for the white-tailed eagle in the extInked project ( Ultimate Holding Company - Portfolio), so I need to learn as much as I can about the species. If anyone is willing to communicate with me, please get in touch. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
