| | | Re: Anyone seen... Incredible pics! I was misinformed, it's actually a Bald Eagle attacking a Trumpeter Swan. 3 action shots. Unreal. |

| | | Re: Anyone seen... There were four photos of this incident in today's Guardian (but no date given - and I couldn't find it on their website). However, I Googled to find these pics: Bald Eagle attacking a Trumpter Swan |

| | | Re: Anyone seen... Thats the pics. Strange how they have appeared in the Express & the Guardian on the same day months later. Must have been an agent that contacted a few different papers. |

| | | Re: Anyone seen... Having looked at these photos, it doesn't seem to me that the swan is very likely intended as the eagle's prey ... so most likely it's not the serious strike that the reporters have been purporting.
Much more likely instead to be just a simple 'mobbing' action, where the eagle is merely seeing off what it sees as a much larger intruder from the vicinity of its nest or young, much in the same manner that corvids will chase off a larger buzzard.
Had the eagle really intended to take the swan, then it's not so likely to have given up quite that easily ... and after all, a bald eagle is primarily an eater of fish and carrion! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
