Those westerlies, I hate them. The birding on my local patch today was terrible. The worst day I have ever experienced.
No Passerines at all & those I did see flew straight into cover never to be seen again.
Sea watching was a bit better with Gannets flying North & RT Divers south.
An ad win Med Gull on the beach & an ad sum RTDiver on the sea improved a few things.
It was birdless elsewhere!
So much disturbance by dog walkers & general walkers did not help nor did the settled conditions.
Most if not all birds must have migrated overhead & gone to their wintering grounds un noticed.
We are still waiting for the dark bellied Brent Geese migration that gets later every year.
But this is birding & if it was Minsmere standards all the time we would soon get bored.
