| | | Warbler or White Throat?? I was in the garden today trying to take photos of our baby fishes in the pond when I looked up and saw this bird high in one of the conifers. At first I thought it was a Garden Warbler but have looked in the Gallery and now I doubt my ID. It does resemble a white throat but would really like your expert opinion. I apologise for the bad photos, which was due to me handholding my camera...getting old and can't take the weight anymore lol:
Many thanks in advance.

I think it's a Dunnock, Prunella modularis. Hard to say with 100% certainty without a shot of the wings...

| | | Re: Warbler or White Throat?? Always a chance of getting warblers in the garden Christine so don't loose hope! (incidentally, Whitethroat are warblers too (from the group of sylvia warblers). Most likely warblers in the garden would be Chiffchaff, Blackcaps, Goldcrests and not so often, Common Whitethroats. Winter is the most likely time for the first three when natural food is short - provided you have the right food mix out. (Whitethroats sometimes on passage stop in gardens for a feed up) |

| | | Re: Warbler or White Throat?? Hi Picidae, thank you for the information, I shall keep my eyes open. We do get Goldcrests here and last year one nested at the bottom of the garden. It's always great to sea a new bird in the garden. lol
Thanks again Picidae
