| | | Gull? While looking for hobbies at Shatterford I saw this bird fly over, it seemed to glide and never flapped its wings once and it seemed to be quite large. I would have thought it was a Gull.
And I was successful with the Hobby:
I have seen one everytime I have visited Shatterford (3 times) except when I was on a guided tour looking for them!
Also found a mating pair of Silver-studded Blues. |

| Thanks, It just seemed a lot bigger, it was larger than the Hobby (it flew right next to it, I thought it was another one) and the gliding confused me. |

| | | Re: Gull? I would have said herring gull, especially if it was bigger than the hobby, but gulls aren't my forte! I haven't seen one there for a while - was it on the stretch towards denny wood? I tend to find evenings the best, but sometimes I leave it too late! Great shot of the silver studded blues - did you see those from a path? |

| | | Re: Gull? I've tried to blow it up and though it is definitely a gull I don't think it is black-headed any more. Might be Herringbut it does have very pointed wings in this shot.

| It was flying over the railway bridge closest to the Shatterford car park. The time was about 2:40. The Silver-studded blues were on the opposite side of the railway right next to the path. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
