| | | 3 Peregrines I live beside a golf course and half an hour ago I was on my balcony when i heard the unmistakable call of the Peregrine. I looked up to see 3 of them circling pretty low with the odd playful dive here and there. I think it was 2 adults & a juvenille. Guess what? Left my blooming camera at work :-( still I never tire of watching them, by far my all time fave bird |

| | | Re: 3 Peregrines I have a pair of Peregrine's that nest and hunt from the roof of my workplace. Its a 16 floor building and the regular fly pasts certainly help to liven up the day. They are lovely birds. We are hoping that the pair will have produced some chicks but we haven't seen any sign as of yet. |

| | | Re: 3 Peregrines Always good to see them. Must be the season for it. I saw one of our local peregrines fly over the garden yesterday. Too high for a decent shot, but close enough to make out that it was ringed. He's an old male (at least 10 years old), formerly resident of Sussex Heights (tallest building round here), but now ousted by some younger upstarts. He was several miles from his former home. |

| | | Re: 3 Peregrines Peregrines spotted in Hanley, Stoke on trent. they think this because there has been an increace in the pigeon population. This was reported in our local paper this week.

| | | Re: 3 Peregrines On monday late afternoon, I was flying a young tiercel to the kite, When he was joined by a young local wild tiercel. A bit of play aerial combat took case before the wild tiercel broke off and went on his way. And then a few minutes latter a pair of adult hobbies came in these tried to make his mission hard and I had some amazing displays of agilty speed as they repeatly stooped, Its not rare for the hobbies to come in, but this all happened overhead infact when they broke off they had drove him quite low. I wished I had my camera at the time. I thought the hobbies would have cut me some slack As the Robin was handed in to me several weeks back, in a bit of a state wrapped in baler twine feathers all twisted and bend. With about half an hours work he was as good as new, and he was taken straight back to where he was found. As I knew he was one of the local breeding pair, and hoped his little venture would not hamper this seasons breeding.

| | | Re: 3 Peregrines Hi WTL, do you think the young tiercel could have been one of the Derby juvies? That sounds so exciting! Pity you didn't have a camera handy but with the bird to fly I can see why you couldn't have a camera! Good to hear there are hobbys too!

Its the second time this year one has come in for a close look. To be honest it was great seeing the tiercel and the Hobbies. But it certainley kept me on my toes and somewhat turned the lesson into a bit of a shambles. Still its the wild falcons right to fly and hunt where ever they like, and so it should be, I would not want it any other way.
Regards

Colin | Oh I am glad to hear that the Derby juvies are doing well! You could have done with eyes in the back of your head to deal with the hobbies and a young tirecel but it must have been exciting.
