| | | A collard dove in my area has Trichomoniasis I have fully cleaned out my feeders and bird bath, I was wondering about how long I should prevent myself from feeding the birds in my garden? Because I know you shouldn't really stop feeding birds directly but this is a completely different case.
Thanks, HanD. |

Someone else may advise differently but that is my humble opinion.

Provided the lesions in the throat, crop, etc are not too advanced, treatment of a bird showing symptoms is usually entirely successful within 4-5 days.
Euthanasia is therefore not generally warranted in any sick bird, which should however be isolated during the treatment period. |

| | | Re: A collard dove in my area has Trichomoniasis How do you know it has tricho?
Normally it is diagnosed by oral examiation. Has it affected the eyes and beak?
Treatment is usually quite straightforward (Spartrix or chevicol)but you would need to catch it or call the RSPCA. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
