Good sites in Devon

I'll be off to Devon in a few weeks time for a weeks holiday, staying near Great Torrington.

Can anyone recommend any good places to do a spot of birding if I manage to get an hour or 2 spare?

It's a long time since I did any birding in Devon, but I remember the Taw/Torridge estuary and Braunton Burrows being good, with Hartland Point and Tamar Lakes not too far away, and Dartmoor of course.

Dawlish Warren is a good spot too, and it reaches right round to the Exe estuary, with some lovely views there.

Prawle Point is also well worth a visit, and you've got Slapton Ley & Start Point nearby. Plenty of Cirl Buntings (though they're not so easy in autumn) and, in migration season, almost anything can turn up.

As has been mentioned, Dawlish Warren is a good bet at this time of year for a wide range of passage waders & terns (Roseate Tern is at least a 50/50 shot).
