Blue tits and the apple tree.

Blue tits around my area seem to love mine and my neighbours apple trees, I first found this out when the tree was blossoming they would peck through the buds to get to the seeds. But now that season is over they are still visiting the tree and often peck at leaves, I was wondering what they were doing?

Probrably eating aphids or caterpillars.

They are constantly on my apple tree too. Later in the year, make sure you leave some apples on. They like to sit on them and peck the fruit

As Dogghound suggested, they're probably busy feeding, or searching for food. I read in the wonderful, if a littled dated, Readers Digest AA Book of British Birds that a Great Tit has been known to bring insects to the nest 900 times a day, or 60 times an hour. That must mean there's a whole lot of hunting going on, especially if there's young to be fed. And we reckon bees are busy!
