am i right in thinking this is a Mediterranean gull?

Yes it is Sam.

(Not sure on the rules posting external links to photos but it's a good photo which demonstrates well the white primaries (wing tips) cf to black ones on a Black Headed Gull, so perhaps it would be worth uploading in the WAB Gallery also?)
