| | | Families of Great Tits Recently about every couple of hours we have about 10-15 great tits visiting our feeders, and rushing quickly about the garden. Before this, we had the odd one or two but these numbers are extraordinary! Looks like we have adults accompanied by juveniles.
We had a nest of great tits in the street but they fledged quite early. And i could have sworn that tits only feed in flocks in the winter. So how come we have so many at one time?
My two solutions would be two broods joined together or two families joined together for protection?
can anyone help me out on this one?
Thanks

| | | Re: Families of Great Tits They will start to flock once fledged and family groups will hang around together moving around to feed. Great Tits (and Blue Tits) breed from April and the vast majority (if not all - getting a bit late now for even the occasional Great Tit second brood) will have finished and been long fledged by now. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
