I've found Goldfinches fickle with niger- sometimes they relish it, other times they leave it. Sunflower hearts always seem popular. |

Well I've gone for Niger seed. I have both Niger and sunflower hearts in feeders and the goldfinches that visit me eat more Niger than sunflower hearts. |

Our gang of Goldfinches love sunflower hearts, all the finches that visit us can`t get enough of them, they can empty a feeder in no time at all.  |

I have only ever had two Goldfinches visit, and that was recently but they stayed on the Niger feeder for ages.

Our goldfinches won't touch the niger seed (it all went to waste) but they love sunflower hearts.
Perhaps our birds need the fat content to keep 'em warm on a cold North West night. LOL

Although ours seem to like both, I voted for sunflower seeds as most of the niger ends up on the ground  |

My goldfinch visitors like both but given the choice they will eat the sunflower hearts first.. I say eat... More like eat half a seed and the rest goes to the floor! | | | |
