| | | Does it drive anyone else mad... or is it just me??
There seem to be loads of people who come on to this forum asking for help with baby birds, everyone rallies around giving advice and sending contact numbers by pm and then Nothing....nada...they don't even have the courtesy to come back and say problem sorted or the bird died...
I get it here at the Haven too, people ring and ask if I can take in a baby bird, I get evrything ready, brooder switched on, cancel trp to pet shop or whatever to wait in and nothing, no show. When I ring them back they say oh it flew off or it died.
Not to mention the people who expect me not only to take in the little critters, care for them and feed them out of my own pocket (not a problem, glad to do it) but they expect me to go collect them too!!!!!
What is wrong with people ? or is it me getting to be a grumpy old so and so? |

What's wrong with people?
| LOL
I think most people are simply selfish. I'm not being bitter or twisted here, just an observation I've made countless times

Keep up the good work folks.

| | | Re: Does it drive anyone else mad... A few years ago, when I had my old cat, he brought in (late at night) a collared dove. I telephoned the local RSPCA (I think) and they couldn't come to get the bird and I had no transport to take it to them, so they told me to put it in a box with a little water and they would collect in the morning. I had told them I would be at work so I left it in the box in the garage (out of cats way). I heard nothing at all the next day so about 3.00 pm I called them anxious to know what had happened to the bird. They told me that they had to kill it because it crop had been damaged. I felt sooo very bad. Had I let that bird suffer overnight? I was mortified and so angry with myself for not having transport anymore, having given it up to help the environment - just can win! The person was on call, but on the other side of his "patch" hence his inability to collect. Got that off my chest after all these years lol |

But, I agree, just a short thanks or update/conclusion would be nice particularly if people have put their time and effort into trying to help.

| | | Re: Does it drive anyone else mad... I've said before that in many cases if people left babies (mammals and birds) alone the parents would see to them
It is a nuisance for you though being asked to collect and look after them.

| | | Re: Does it drive anyone else mad... I'm still waiting in hope that two people to whom I have given information on a thread and two who I have pmd might bother to get back to me and say "Thank you." I guess that it's not going to happen as it is now many weeks ago.
I've made this observation on another forum recently and it seems that wherever you go the situation is the same. The majority give their thanks and the small minority pip us off by not bothering! |

| | | Re: Does it drive anyone else mad... Its seems to be a sign of the times now a days when they expect it and dont seem to think that a reply or thank you is required.
I was always told that its always good manners to say please and thank you but you hardly ever hear it from the generation of today
