| | Went for a look at a nature reserve site near to my house today, when i arrive there was literally hundreds if not thousands of waders, and within the space of 5 minutes they'd nearly all gone its amazing how quickly they can all disappear.
11-17am
11-21am
Mostly they were Black Tailed Godwits, with Redshank, Teal, 6 Herons dotted around, A couple of Snipe and some Lapwing No avocet unfortunatly |

| | | Re: Disappearing act Where was this?
2 theories .... (a) a response to the tide rising or falling and the birds moving to an alternative feeding area or (b) the birds spooked by a Peregrine or other raptor .... probably neither and maybe it was the aftershave after all!

| | | Re: Disappearing act The very same thing happened at Dungeness the other week. That was caused by a raptor.Annoying when you've just set up your camera, bins and got your sarnies out! ww

Could have been Blacktoft Sands. That's near Ousefleet on the junction with the river Trent, Ouse and the Humber.

| | | Re: Disappearing act It sure is Alan, you get some pretty good views of waders down there, especially as it's right in an industrial estate lots of Avocet at the right times | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
