Question and a sighting.

Ok at separate locations miles apart and one in a semi urban area the other in the middle of country i have heard and seen a bizarre bird.
The first time i heard this bird was in a park and i thought it was a squirrel because of the screeching noise it was making, it sound just like a squirrel bark.... i thought at first it was a squirrel fighting with a magpie but then i saw the bird fly of and then there was silence - as it flew it continued with its noise. It Kind of looked little like a green woodpecker in shape and size... it had dark markings on its head/ face area but i was too far for getting a good view. The second time i did not see the bird in the country side but i could here the distinct screeching noise this time it sound like it was arguing with Jackdaws.


The sighting was a buzzard over the Copnor industrial area in p=Portsmouth City.... it was being mobbed by a crow although the buzzard appeared to be fighting back at times.

What about a jay?

They have 2 or 3 different calls, but they do screech have alook at the RSPB website for the sound. They do have a dark streak on their face too

Going on the sound from the clip on the RSPB website i think this is the bird i heard.
