Duck and Heron


Can some kind person please tell me what type of duck this is? Photo taken at Kew last week. Many thanks.

Hi Pammyanny and welcome to the forum. The bird is an Egyptian Goose Alopochen aegyptiacus, an escape from captivity that has established a thriving breeding population in SE England The RSPB: Egyptian goose

Egyptian Geese are pretty successful breeding at Kew (+ many other London sites)- usually 3 or 4 pairs around the different ponds.
