| | | Help in ID Confirmation Please According to the books they do not come to the feeders at feeding stations this is why I am querying this ID ,can you help is this a Linnet or not taken today in the garden at the feeders ,feeding on sunflower hearts also niger seed then went to the tray were there is a mix of everything .

We have just identified a male Linnet at our feeders. Seems to prefer the niger seed feeder to any of the others.
Never seen one in our garden before. |

Linnets are very much ground feeders and unlike other farmland ground feeding passerines, such as Tree Sparrows, they have not taken to using feeders as much - although it has been known for them to do so. |

| | | Re: Help in ID Confirmation Please Thanks for the answer guys have been back out watching them,and there are quite a few coming to the feeders at various stages of age and I now agree that they are Siskins on watching them again they must be this years fledglings as the are like I stated at various stages in growth and plummage of feathers.
You learn something new every day so easy to confuse if going by books alone .
