While doing the washing up I spotted a bird on our feeding station that I had not seen before in our garden. Rushed to get the binoculars to try and identify it, but still had no real idea what it was. Kinda light brown with stripey wings, with a long tail, finch-like beak and rusty coloured 'cap'.
Then on Spring Watch last night...there it was....our little guy is a Linnet

! What a treat to see pretty little bird in our garden. Havent managed to get a photo yet as it seems to visit only occasionally unlike our sparrows which are on the feeders all day

These and the Gold Finches are costing us a fortune
We have also seen a Yellow Hammer this year

but it hasnt been back recently
Oh and a streak of feathers went across the window, so fast I wasnt really sure what it was, but if Ihad to guess would say a Sparrow Hawk
