At Vale Wildlife we very rarely see a peregrine falcon, but today we've had two in!!
The first is a youngster which was only taking its third ever flight from the nest on a church roof in Worcester city centre. It was apparently grounded by a seagull & then attacked by crows & magpies.
When it arrived at the Hospital we gave it a thorough examination & luckily it had no injuries at all, although it was extremely stressed. We have decided to take it back to the nest (which is accessible) when it is dark tonight as it won't fly at night & will have the whole night to recover in familiar surroundings with the parents & other siblings.
The second one, not such a happy ending. It was found in Great Witley with a badly injured wing. We found that it had a dislocated carpal joint with torn tendons too so sadly we had to put it to sleep. We found out from its ring information that it was a 10-year old male. One happy & one sad ending.
