| | | Blue tit fledgling Hello All
This year we have had blue tits at the end of the garden, only one has fledged and came out of his box yesterday afternoon. Stress !!! I have taken a days leave as i am currently chasing off predators, cats and magpies. I would like to get back to work soon, does anybody know how long it will be before the chick will be able to get off the ground
Thanks

| | | Re: Blue tit fledgling sorry, I can't really provide an answer to your query but the Great Tits that fledged recently from my box were up in the bushes within a day or two, hope this helps, but if not someone else will certainly be able to answer soon |

| | | Re: Blue tit fledgling We've had blue tits nesting for 2 years now. The first year they were off in the early morning, but this year they were around for another 2 days after they'd fledged. It all depends on how early they fledged from the box.
At most it will be a couple of days. Good Luck!
I resorted to the supersoaker water pistol to keep the magpies away . |

To late for this little one, just had about 3 hours heavy rain, when it was finished i found him dead by the bush, he had no obvious signs of predator damage still looks cute.
Wife is on her way home from work as i type, she has given it a name, the joy of nature eh

Last year only two of the fledglings stayed on the ground, the rest managed to flutter away. It may be that this had happened to you because I think normally there would be at least have 2 blue tit chicks?
We managed to get the blue tit parents and fledglings to come back by putting suet (from the local bakery) out on the table. See if this works and they might bring a family?

| | | Re: Blue tit fledgling Hi fellow bird lovers, I am graeme's wife and have just arrived home from work to the sad news that our little chick has gone to big birdie heaven I cannot believe what pleasure the family have given us over the past 7 weeks.
I have to admit I have been upset and even cried, I only hope that maybe we will be able to enjoy the same again.
When graeme looked in the box there were 4 dead chick at differrent stages of growth and we are not sure why the chicks in the box would die.
Thank you for all your advice thoughout the day
will keep looking at the web site to hear how other chicks are doing.

xx | Please don't be disheartened... you gave them a box to breed in afterall! It's possible the others died from lack of food that the parents couldn't find - the weather has been up and down lately eh!
It's possible yr pair will try for another brood yet, so remove the dead chicks and see if they start again
