missing green woodpeckers and cuckoo

I hate to be a bore but all of my usual green peckers and the cuckoo are still missing from this area, five full years for the cuckoo and the first year we have not had one green woodpecker, Our ant hills are increasing by the week, these birds have always been here laughing away as they filled them selves up on ants, Has the snow and three months of frost killed them off, We have never missed them once in the last twenty years till now, T:confusedhis area by the way is stratford warwick, aland.

Green Woodpeckers are susceptible to cold periods, though there are plenty near me still.

...and I was watching a pair feeding on ants last week in Biggin Dale,(Derbyshire) - although it had been a while since my last view of them.
