I wanted to find out how many of you have had a Wren nesting in one of your open-fronted nest boxes? Wondering what the ratio is.

I have one open-fronted box, and it's been up for approximately 5 years. I recently had a pair of Wrens hopping in and out of it, but they haven't nested in it yet. They did however successfully nest in a "roosting pocket" one year.

We have about 3-4 open fronted boxes in our nest box scheme and they aren't used by Wrens every year. |

I've gas a wren in a blue tit box, never heard of it before or since. |

I think they have been known to occasionally use hole nestboxes and the definitely use them to roost. | | |
