Sounds like a geiger counter

I hear every day a bird who sounds like its measuring the radiation in me garden. I never get a glimpse but need to know what he is as its driving me crackers.

Any help appreciated.....

It sounds like a call rather than song, though I suspect that's an obvious observation! Hmmm... try Wren or Mistle Thrush.

I had previously indentified a resident mistle thrush who sang each evening. This is definitely a call as you say, it is exactly like a geiger counter - short sharp sound that gets quicker and slower and goes on for some time. Cool if its a wren a not had one in garden before. Be nice to actually see it though.

If you look on the RSPB website, under the 'Birds By Name', there is a recording of their song or call.

If the sound is coming from above head height in trees, it may be a Wood Warbler, part of it's song could be described as a Geiger counter.

Starlings are good mimics and they give a good impression of a geiger counter, heard one give a wolf whistle the other day,
