| | | Will it disturb the robins? We've got robins darting back and fore non-stop to our top shelf just inside our shed where they've built a nest.
Don't want to disturb them but is it okay for us to dart in and out to get things like the mower out of the shed and will it then disturb them to mow the lawn? |

I suppose If you have been in and out of the shed often, then I imagine they will just ignore you. It sounds as though If there are two robins in and out which means they are feeding their young.
I am sure If you took the mower out and mowed the grass It would be fine.
The robins will probably avoid you while you do this. Perhaps you could place some meal worms somewhere for them when you have finished mowing.
Maybe someone else will have some thoughts about this for you.

| | | Re: Will it disturb the robins? Hi, Hobble and thanks for your reply.
We've stayed out of the shed
as soon as we saw them in there the other day.
They were acting very protective when we first spotted each other.
They're right opposite the doorway which means we would have to pass them to get to anything in the shed.
Think I can see a couple of beaks sticking up
right in the corner of the nest now
but dead silent in there and daren't go up close.
Have seen the robins carrying worms in there this afternoon and eve, but will definitely go get them some meal worms and make a contribution to all their hard work we've seen back and fore, back and fore. They're lovely.
We've got such a noisy mower though;
will use the excuse to wait a few days more
before we tackle the lawn again
and let the little'uns have a bit more peace n quiet
for their first few days, maybe! |

| | | Re: Will it disturb the robins? Good idea, at least it will save the job of cutting the grass!!!
I am sure it won't be too long before they fledge, our Great Tits hatched and were gone exactly in three weeks.
Enjoy them.

| | | Re: Will it disturb the robins? Shouldn't disturb them. I have a nesting box in my dog run, robins nested in it when I had my GSD, and this year like last the wren has raised a brood of 3 babies in the box while my loopy labrador has been out in the run. I'm in and out of the run to the dog, and often working out in the garden near it and I have watched her go in and out and she doesn't seem bothered. |

Will keep eye on shed, watch for rain clouds
and attempt the lawn this weekend. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
