| | | Bird ID Help Please Hi everyone
Unfortunately I've not got a photo of the bird I'm asking about, as I was at work and did not have my camera on me.
At lunchtime, it was quite hot and sunny, and I went to a nearby cafe which has a large pond surrounded with plants, flowers etc and I have seen different birds there (e.g. Warblers, Mallards, Geese, Goldfinches etc), but this one has me stumped!
This bird had a Pheasant style body, but was the size of a Raven, was black all over apart from the top of his/her head was spiky (crested?) and was white. This bird was in the edge of the water (water was up until his/her mid-leg joints) and seemed to be hopping around in the water and possibly catching fish (it kept sticking it's head under water and attempting to dive).
Does anyone have any ideas? Any comments/answers welcome and much appreciated! |
