Has anyone seen any this spring?
I walk regularly on 4 local heaths where, if I don't see any, I at least hear them but today I heard my first one in ages.
I'm assuming the bad winter took its' toll - we had heavy snowfall in this area  |

Don't know where you are, but they are OK in Surrey as far as I can tell.

I know that Dartfords don't like the wind for singing or showing in, could that be why you have not seen or heard many?

I went to Ashford Forest a couple of weekends back + the imformation centre said both DW + Stonechat numbers had crashed there because of the cold spells; we only managed a pair of the latter!
Only a couple of DW were seen on our trip to Chobham last weekend + I've been told the numbers have dropped at Thursley. |

The Suffolk birds don't seem to have suffered - there were several on Dunwich Heath earlier in spring (including this obliging one - apologies for posting it again!)  |

I think the Surrey populations were probably the hardest hit as they took the worst of the snow this time. | | | |
