Birds Nest Uncovered

My Mother was tidying up our extremely untidy and neglected backgarden the other day, and when pruning one of our bushes we discovered an old unused birds nest. We thought the birds had left and so carried on pruning the bush only to discover a nest with several babies inside. Once we found it we left it alone, and grabbed a piece of the bush to re-cover it with so it was a bit more hidden. I'm really worried that the Mother won't come back and those little babies will die or get caught by a predator. Please help!

I wld think mum wasn't far away and will return. How exposed is the nest ? is it exposed from the top or just the side a little ? Welcome to WAB by the way

Hi, and a warm welcome to WAB. I think they will be fine, Just check the nest in day or so to see if the chicks are O.K.
