A paradise for nature

Took a quick photo on the way home of my local area. This is a 2 minute drive from house. In this picture alone their are so many different breeding birds. To name a few Spoonbill, Barn Owl, Sparrowhawk, Peregrine Falcon, Raven, Merlin, Hen Harrier and Golden Eagle. Too many more to name...how lucky am I?

Very. Considering there is only one Golden eagle left in britain.. If that is where you live of course.

Really? Just the one? Perhaps it would be a good idea to look into it further then edit your post.

The female died recently in england.

So where exactly DO you live Fudgey - a - caption to go with the photograph would certainly have been handy - Haweswater is certainly the only body of water that is within a "2 minute drive" of the one and only (accepted) English eagle's nest site.

I am based in SW Scotland. We have 2 pairs in Galloway. HanDiiMaNz posted that there was only one left in Britain

Yes ... slightly off the mark - current population is well over 400 breeding pairs.
Incidentally - it was always thought that the English eagles drew replacement birds from Galloway. This could well have been the case previously, but the Galloway population has fallen over the last 20 years or so, which may well explain the continuing absence of a second bird in the Lake District.
