Pipit for ID

I can never tell them apart!!

I was trying to capture a Skylark, which was proving rather elusive, whilst on Holy Island on Wednesday.

I stalked what I thought was a Skylark, but it turned out to be a Pipit... But which one? Unfortunately I haven't managed to get the legs in the shot which makes the ID a little harder. I am thinking Rock Pipit, please correct me if I am wrong!

And I didn't manage a Skylark in the end, but did see two new species for me during the day - Reed Bunting and Treecreeper.

Nice shot Matt and i'd go for Juv Rock purely on the darker plumage......could be wrong tho!

Sounds like a good day!
I've only ever seen the meadow pipit, but looking at my bird book I would say rock pipit because of the greyish colour on the back and the marks on it's throat

(The similar water pipit has a clear throat)
