Swifts are back

Up until about 5 years ago I used to go to my local town and sit in the cafe listening to the Swifts screaming down the high street. Then the church had its steeple repaired (a big job) and the Swifts disappeared, until today, when I saw 4 hawking in the sky. I don`t know how long they have been back as I haven`t been to town recently. I know it`s a common bird but it gave me great pleasure to see them back...Bob

They are always brilliant birds to watch- pleased your birds have returned!

It always amazes me how they can fly full tilt into a narrow crack in their nest sites. Unfortunately a lot of churches now have meshing in their towers and steeples to stop birds getting in to nest.
