Hi all,
Spotted a couple of birds of prey today - the first was very obviously a Red Kite, no ID needed there! But this second one has me stumped - my ID skills only stretch to the very obvious!
I apologise for the poor quality - it was flying quite high and far away!    
This was spotted in East Anglia, over some grassland/wetland, but very close to a large housing development.
Any ID would be gratefully received, though I appreciate that the pics aren't that great  |

Clearly a small falcon- some of the photos seem to show some white on the face + I think it is a Hobby. |

Thanks for the replies - it was bigger than a kestrel, and definitely smaller than the red kite! |

To be honest I would have said kestrel at first but having looked at it again, I can now see the white face so would say hobby. |

Definitely a Hobby. The third pic is a classic hawking posture of the species.

never seen a hobby, but always thought they were smaller than kestrels? |
