| | Bird ID - shingle beach in Sussex Hi, any help appreciated regarding the identity of this unusually tame little bird.
Photographed on shingle on a beach in Sussex at the foot of sand dunes, May 26th. It is hard to see on the photos but the tail is slightly forked.
Many thanks

Your bird looks like a juvenile Meadow Pipit. Recently fledged juveniles of many species often are tame, they just haven't learnt that they should fly off yet (and possibly can't fly very well anyway).

| | | Re: Bird ID - shingle beach in Sussex Thanks, that makes sense, there are always lots of adult Meadow Pipits in the area. It was the tail that put me off, but I guess it looks different for a juvenile.
Cheers again | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
