| | | Starlings feeding their young For the last 3/4 days, we have had 2/3 young starlings visit the feeders with one of their parrents who feeds them vigorously. The youngsters seem well able to fly and move around, so I wonder why are they unable to feed themselves yet?
regards

I guess the young Starlings can actually feed themselves and they are just being lazy getting mum or dad to do it for them. |

| | | Re: Starlings feeding their young I saw this as well in my garden on Monday afternoon , but with approx 100 starlings!. I would guess that there was a 60/ 40 split with the youngsters outnumbering the parents . A youngster would be happy to feed itself until an adult came near then they would peck either at the beak or the side of the parent until it was fed ( maybe an easier option - just like my daughter she prefers to be fed instead of getting anything herself) | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
