| | | Sparrowhawk show We were out for a walk on Sunday and I was looking for linnets round some brambles. Suddenly, a sparrowhawk hurtled past and wheeled away at a rate of knots. It was a toss up as to who was surprised the most.
Fortunately, she decided to stay in the vicinity and wheeled around overhead
We spotted some birds trying to mob the hawk - they turned out to be swallows
Finally, she flew off, having been most co-operative

| | | Re: Sparrowhawk show Last year in my garden I heard a 'kerfuffle' behind me, on turning round a dove flying at full belt hit me in the chest and fell to the floor..three feet behind was a sparrow hawk heading straight for me it swerved skyward missing my face by inches. The dove recovered quickly and made a beeline for a nearby hedge.
The sight of a sparrow hawk beak first two feet in front of my face for a millisecond will never be forgotten...Glad I'm not a small bird |
