We have been feeding the local bird population actively for the past two years and we get a wide array of birds.
Recently there has been a house sparrow and her chick who come feeding every day at the mealworm plate. The chick wouldnt feed himself though so the mother would feed him after eating her own.
Today however, in the space of ten minutes we noticed the chick dead on the patio. The little thing was perfectly peaceful and showed no sign of injury or loss of feathers.
What could have caused the poor wee thing to die? There were no cats in the garden at the time and he had happily been feeding a few hours before.
