Hi
I am told that Swifts never land to sleep but do this on the wing.
Can this be true ?

Hi---I think I've read that they sleep on the wing by climbing several thousand feet in the air at dusk and snooze whilst slowly in descending circles of thermals until dawn.Sounds great to me ! |

Welcome to WAB Campbell.....i've been lucky enough to see them mating on the wing.....I didn't believe it till I saw it myself and looked it up....they are amazing birds! |

Yes Ive seen them doing it too, many times. A good book to get about them, Devil Birds..

Good afternoon!- I've never seen them mate. Do they do it in flight[rather like a mid -air jet refueling operation ] or do they flutter/hover for the act? In the meantime i shall be scanning the skies for the action. |
