| | | How nutritious are dried mealworms? Hi there,
Dried mealworms are a huge success in my garden specially with our resident blackbird who is feeding his fledgelings at the moment. But I've been wondering how nourishing are they really? Because they are completely hollow inside, seems to me that all the goodness had gone during the drying process. Does anyone has any idea or thoughts? I'd love to hear.
I'm still trying to gather courage to try the wiggly live mealworms... |

seems they are as good as the live ones, though I can see your point - they appear to be mostly nothing, but living things are mainly water.
I have not had any success with the dried ones, the birds don't see interested. |

As mentioned, the major thing missing compared to live ones is water although perhaps a few vitamins might have disintegrated. |

| | | Re: How nutritious are dried mealworms? I've always understood that they have the same protein and fat content as live mealworms - not sure how true that is. I think they are freeze-dried.
I haven't had much success with them in the garden - we do live in a very rural area though so it could just be that there's plenty of natural food around. |

Roy. | I was going to say something like that, but I wasn't sure how well they would go down |
