| | | Re: How nutritious are dried mealworms? I use them qhite a lot and they disappear in no time at all Blackbirds Robins Starlings almost anything that can get to them in time put some in the seed tray and scatter some on grounds among the roses for the blackbirds and ground feeders

The blackbirds are still taking loads of mealworms for their fledgelings. And the little ones are getting quite fat so I imagine that this diet is helping them. Here's a picture of our resident blackbird trying to get himself in the Guinness Book of Records for the most mealworms in a bill: |

| | | Re: How nutritious are dried mealworms? Your blackbird looks like the ones around here, Marcia. While robins will take one or two it seems the balckbirds are programmed to leave no mealworms. Its often funny to see them dropping mealworms in a bid to get another one in the beak and then trying to get the ones they have just dropped. |
