| | | Is this unusual? Despite the fact that i live in a suburban borough of london i have never seen any Chaffinches in my area, ever. Is this unusual and is there any way to attract them? Thanks. |

| | | Re: Is this unusual? If there are parks nearby, I would have thought you were certainly unlucky. I get them feeding on sunflower hearts in a more urban than suburban garden near London.
Their song and calls are very distinctive. If you can hear any in the vicinity, I suggest you have a good chance of getting them on the food I've suggested.
Good luck!

| | | Re: Is this unusual? You need to be patient, the Chaffinches will find the food eventually. Chaffinches and Tits are the most common bird in my garden but it was a few weeks before they appeared.

We also have a Willow Tit that I watch flying to the mixed seed feeder and picks out one Sunflower seed before flying off to the same perch to eat it, it sprays the other seeds to the ground where the Dunncoks and Robins clear them up.

So I assumed they nested a little later we now have only 3 or 4.
They eat the sunflower seeds and hearts here | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
