| | Baby Bird in trouble! Hi all, Theres a baby blackbird/thrush is my back garden. It seems to have fallen out of a tree in the wind last night. It doesnt appear to have many of its flight feathers. Its mum continues to feed it at the moment. Luckily my garden isnt particularly accessible for cats and the like.
What should I do? |

If the bird is safe from cats and it's being fed, best thing is to leave it alone. Intervention could do more harm than good.

| | | Re: Baby Bird in trouble! Should I intervene eventually, after a couple of days say if the mother stops feeding it? Theres plenty of slugs and things in the garden I could cut up for it. My plan is to not go in the garden and leave it alone, just watching to make sure its mum keeps coming back for now. Thanks for your advice. |

| | | Re: Baby Bird in trouble! Best to leave it be, mum knows where it is. She will only abandon it if it is interfered with. Unless you sit and watch non stop all day you won't know if she has abandoned it as she won't go near it if you are around. It'll probably be ok as she will move it to a safer spot when possible. |
