I seen on a TV programme a good few years ago that Sparrowhawks time it so that when their eggs hatch it coincides with the day that Great tit young fledge the nest. I have put this to the test by erecting nest boxes near to known Sparrowhawk nests in 2007 and 2008 and sure enough on both occasions the Sparrowhawk eggs began to hatch the day the tits fledged. Totally amazing and also whoever discovered this is pretty clever too.

Thanks for the knowledge we have a pair of sparrowhawks around here more than likely nesting!

The great tits in our nest box are 2 wks old today! so will probably be fledging in another week.

Gonna stand outside next week like a scarecrow!!

Probably won't make a difference have seen them fly silently by me many times looking for prey by the feeders

Oh well thats nature.
