The OH thought they were stupid, and yes, we have a Robin nest box too.
Somehow all 6 chicks fledged
I'd really like to say at this point that the Robins obviously knew best. But to be honest, I think it was luck that made this brood successful (and my excellent cat management skills  ).
Weird nesting habits seem to be a common Robin trait.

Jim | We've had a robin box on our garage wall within the garden for 10 years - Never been touched - This little fella below is so deep within our garden hedge we could hardly get him, and certainly would never see him..... one of a clutch of 5 rung during the last few days. What I'm saying is - ideally - they should be hidden.
