| | | wrens we were doing a bit in the garden today and kept hearing a little chirriping noise in the end we found out what it was ............... a wren has nested in a bird box and we had'nt even known that now brings the total of nests in the garden up to 7 incuding greenfinch, caffinch dunnock, and a magpie in a conifer where it nested last year so the impact on magpies and nestlings well i dunno

| | | Re: wrens I'd be very pleased with breeding numbers like that in my garden.
We've had 2 Blackbird broods fledge from the same parents. They're looking a bit done in now.

| | | Re: wrens I was really fortunate about four years ago now whilst in the field of an elderly friends place, between her field and the neighbours, there was a single stranded wire fence, on the fence stood father Wren with two fledgling Wrens alongside and mother Wren at the end, it was one of those days when you just wished you had taken your camera but didnt.
Another occasion in the same field where a very old pear tree once stood, (recently cut down by new owners) were somewhere between 70 and 100 Long Tailed Tits, they covered almost every branch, the tree was in full flower at the time so not sure if they were feeding on the flowers or what.
