| | | Re: Sunflower hearts Sunflower hearts are always more expensive than black sunflowers as they have had their husks removed, so not sure they are that cheap anywhere.
Vine House Farm and Jacobi Jayne are priced about the same and are cheaper than CJ Wildbird Foods and Haiths. I buy from Vine House Farm - the vast majority of seed they sell is produced on their own farm, which is an excellent example of how farming should be! Not sure what sort of stewardship agreement they have though. They also support the Wildlife Trusts. |

We get Peanuts and Sunflower hearts from a local Animal feed Supplier in the Northern part of the New Forest.. All the local "horsey" people seem to use them...
But I'm almost certain they don't do mail order.
It's a caravan site and a couple of barns!!! (Gorse Farm, Godshill, Near Fordingbridge.)
We get Mealworms by post from a mob called Ponderosa in Gloucestershire..
And finally Jumbo oats from the local health food shop in Ringwood...
SWMBO insists on Jumbos for the birds!!!
Sorry Prices are unknown at this moment but we check around the local sources and these seem the best..
Good Luck and Cheers Bob E... |

| | | Re: Sunflower hearts I also buy sunflower hearts and black sunflower seed from a local animal feed supplier - a 22.68kg sack of hearts costs £28.30 and black sunflower seeds are £11.37 for 15kg. Actually the hearts are sometimes labelled "chips and pieces" - but there are far more whole hearts than chips. (I've never bought hearts from anywhere else, so I don't know how the quality compares with the more expensive ones).
I don't know how much their peanuts are, because I always buy a branded make that are labelled "safe nuts".
So for anyone in the Guildford area, I can recommend Roker Farm, Holly Lane, Worplesdon GU3 3PB. It's opposite the entrance to Merrist Wood College. |

| | | Re: Sunflower hearts Be a tad careful in buying 'cheap' sunflower hearts. I thought I was on to a good thing a while back when I bought some (fortunately only 2kg to try) from our local pet food supermarket. When I tipped them out of the bag they were in I discovered that a good percentage were not hearts at all, but the whole seed and there was a lot of dross at the bottom too, all making for more mess in the garden. I'm not paying hearts prices for that!
Gone back to getting mine from Haiths. I know that they are not the cheapest, but they are reliable and quick and the quality is always the same....high. |

| | | Re: Sunflower hearts I'm very happy with what I buy from Roker Farm - and so are the birds. There's certainly nothing other than hearts and a very small proportion of "chips" in the sacks. |

| | | Re: Sunflower hearts To the North of Ipswich I use Charnwoods, Framlingham, where the mail order price for sunflower hearts is 22.75 Kg for 30.75 - but a 20% discount for 10 bags of whatever you fancy and self pick up.
One WAB member regularly combines with me, so if anyone else wants to
then pm me.
They do mail order My Charnwood Milling Store Quote:
