Up until last year there was only one breeding pair of Ospreys in my area (Dumfries and Galloway) Yesterday I went to a sight and watched a female sitting on a nest for over 2 hours. Just before I left the male brought a fish in to her. Almost certain she is incubating eggs. There have been Ospreys coming to my part since the 1970s and showed signs of breeding, but thus far it has never materialised so this is truly great news. Fingers crossed they breed successfully. Heres a pic, but I was about half a mile away so not to disturb. Im a happy man today.

Good news indeed!
I know of two pair on eggs in Northumberland and another pair "attempting to colonise"! so they are out there and spreading- only not made public to aid their re colonisation so to say

I believe last year one of the returning youngsters from the 2006 Glaslyn site in north wales was seen and identified in the Dumfries and Galloway area, link here: Glaslyn osprey diary : INCREDIBLE NEWS...

I was up tonight for an hour. She's still sitting tight. Once hatched there's a good chance a cameras going onto the nest. Not much activity, just the female coming off the nest and flying round for a minute to stretch her wings. Despite not much happening it was an hour well spent. One word sums it up... Addictive! Keith kirk who is mentioned in the link is a good friend of mine and a brilliant photographer and his knowledge is second to none. I will see if I can get some photographs from him to post on here.

A snap from last night. Apologies for the quality, but I was at a great distance away. I think this was the male bird beginning a stoop for a fish, but it was so far away and dissapeared behind trees so I never saw the outcome. Need to get myself a better camera for long range work.
